Our Story

Single origin
Our Rooibos is grown at altitude in the Cederberg mountains of South Africa, where the air is dry, the soil is rugged, and the plants work a little harder to thrive. These high-altitude conditions produce lower yields but richer flavor — giving our tea its naturally smooth taste and deep, earthy aroma. We carefully source from this single origin to bring you the purest expression of Rooibos, just as nature intended.

Farmer friendly
At My Red Tea, we give back where it matters most — 10% of our profits support education in Rooibos farming communities.
By choosing our tea, you're helping create jobs, strengthen local economies, and empower the next generation — all while supporting fair trade practices every step of the way.

Caffeine free
Naturally sweet and entirely caffeine-free, Rooibos is a feel-good choice for all ages. It’s a wholesome alternative to sugary or caffeinated drinks — perfect as a refreshing iced tea in summer or a calming cup before bedtime. Kids love its smooth, mellow flavor, making it a family favorite.

Sustainable packaging
We’re committed to packaging that’s as kind to the earth as our tea is to your body. Our supplier shares our values, providing environmentally responsible solutions at every step. Our teabags are made from unbleached wood pulp (cellulose) and are fully biodegradable — with no plastic, no glue, and no harmful chemicals like epichlorohydrin. Instead, the bags are sealed using heat and pressure, keeping things pure, simple, and sustainable.

Certified Organic
Every product we offer is certified organic, grown with care and integrity. That means no GMOs, no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and no harmful chemicals — ever. Our Rooibos is cultivated in clean, healthy soil using practices that protect water, enrich the earth, and rely on renewable resources. By choosing organic, we’re not just making better tea — we’re helping preserve the planet for future generations.

No funny stuff — just pure, kak-fancy Rooibos.
We don’t mess around with additives, preservatives, or shortcuts. What’s in your cup is exactly what nature intended: clean, simple, 100% organic Rooibos. While others cut corners with chemicals and fillers, we stay true to quality, choosing purity over convenience every time.

We love our bees
We love our bees — and they seem to love Rooibos just as much as we do.
During the natural fermentation process, the rich color and aroma of the leaves draw them in. Their presence is a gentle reminder of the harmony between nature and our craft. For us, the bee has become a symbol of sustainability, care, and the deep respect we hold for the natural world.

Hand-picked
We carefully hand-pick our partners — choosing only those who share our deep respect for the earth, its people, and the principles we stand for.
More about Rooibos
“Rooibos has been part of my life since I was a child — a comforting staple passed down through generations of South Africans. Whether it was for a tummy ache, colic, diaper rash, or just a soothing cup with honey during a cold, Rooibos was always there.” — Kim Koen, Founder of My Red Tea
Grown only in the sun-drenched Cederberg region of South Africa, Rooibos (pronounced roy-boss) is as unique as the land it comes from. It’s made from the needle-like leaves of the Aspalathus linearis plant — part of the legume family and native to the fynbos, one of the most botanically rich ecosystems on Earth.
The name “Rooibos,” Afrikaans for “red bush,” reflects the transformation of the green leaves into a deep red color as they oxidize in the sun. Naturally caffeine-free and low in tannins, Rooibos is packed with antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins — making it a nourishing, naturally sweet tea that’s gentle enough for babies, comforting for adults, and perfect for the whole family.
